SS1- Automatic Fire Suppression
Fire Sprinkler Systems Inspection for your Building WoF
Fire sprinkler systems are broadly regarded as one of the most successful and reliable methods of managing fire to safeguard both people and property. If a blaze starts in a sprinkler-protected building, the sprinkler heads directly above the fire will operate by discharging water to control the fire. While the sprinkler is at work minimising the risk, the fire brigade is also called.
BWoF Ltd works in conjunction with your approved Fire Sprinkler Contractor to inspect and test the installation. This ensures compliance with the respective NZ Standard and the Building Consent
Maintenance & Testing process (performing standard: NZS 4541 / NZS 4515 /AS 1851 etc.)
Planned preventative maintenance needs to be carried out following the performance and inspection Standards, and to ensure the system will operate as required in the event of a fire.
Typical testing for general sprinkler system includes (but not limited to):
- Test FBA signal generator inputs and function.
- Check all chains, locks, and straps.
- Test hydraulic gong.
- Check water supply stop valves.
- Check control valve access.
- Check subsidiary stop valves and its supervisory system.
- Check all street and site main valves.
- Test each water supply through main drain valve and record/compare results.
- Test automatic infill valve where applicable.
- Check static pressure gauges against gauge schedule.
- Test flow switches (critical or >6 story).
- Check subsidiary systems and tailend antifreeze solution pressure.
- Check paper bags and replace where contaminated.
- Check heads below filter and replace if heavily contaminated.
- Ensure toby boxes are clearly marked.
- Check hose reel water supply.
- Check and record water supply tank level
Because of its complexity, all inspections and maintenance must be done by a registered IQP
